Hans Marx – Patti Durflinger

We met for the first time in 1967, when I was one of the first foreign exchange students at Cardinal High School in Eldon, Iowa, and lost contact over the years because we both had a more than fulfilling life. When we made contact again in 2014 it was like we had never been disconnected since the 60s. I had turned to photography after my professional life and thus Patti invited me to spend some time in the American Gothic House to do a documentary on the house and a first series of photos created itself almost by itself. Shortly after Patti came up with the idea to write a book on the house within the community of Eldon in Iowa, USA.
